$250 million McKinney development District 121 signs Bob’s Steak & Chop House and Mi Cocina as anchor restaurants

District 121, a $250 million mixed-use development in McKinney, has signed its first two restaurants, according to a news release.

The development is located at the northeast corner of State Highway 121 and Alma Road and is adjacent to Craig Ranch. According to the release, Bob's Steak & Chop House is taking 7,600 square feet in a standalone building, including a cigar bar. Mi Cocina concept will occupy 6,600 square feet in a standalone location, including an upscale bar similar to its Highland Park restaurant.

"It is exciting to see the vision of District 121 coming to fruition," David Craig, Chairman and CEO of Dallas-based Craig International, said in the release. "We are creating a unique ambiance that includes some of the most successful restaurants in the metroplex overlooking a magnificent park. It would not have happened if the City of McKinney did not share in this same vision."

Craig's subsidiary, District 121 Retail, the project is being developed along with Craig International's Miles Prestemon.

Phase one of the project will open this spring. It will include an eight-story, 200,000 square-foot speculative office building developed in partnership between Kaizen Development Partners and the McKinney Economic Development Corp. Phase one will also include 40,000 square feet of retail and patio restaurants, a 0.7-acre green space called The Commons and an 800-space parking garage. WorkSuites is taking 30,000 square feet of the new space.

The restaurants will be opening between March and May of 2023.

"I've never been part of a more successful pre-leasing activity than what I've witnessed in District 121," Thomas Glendenning said in the release., "We've had an overwhelming response to this project and expect to announce more tenants soon."

Glendenning is a partner with SHOP Companies, leasing the retail and restaurant spaces along with Landry Kemp of SHOP.
